'Love Under Occupation' - Free Public Talk, 7 Sept, Japan Foundation, Sydney
If you live in Sydney and are interested in Japanese war brides, the Japan Foundation, Sydney is hosting a free public talk on Wednesday 7 September at 6.30pm at our Multipurpose room in Chifley Plaza.

‘Love under Occupation’ is the inspiring story of former Australian soldier Noel Huggett and his Japanese war-bride Reiko (Ruth), and the struggles they faced to be able to marry and live in Australia under the White Australia Policy in the 1950s. This interview features ‘Love under Occupation’ co-author Dr Christine de Matos, and Noel and Ruth’s daughter Kathy, who will share her fascinating story and family photos from their time in both Japan and Australia.
